Celebrating 2 Years! Join In – There’s Still Time!

lfg2wtextReserve Your Space Now for the Littlefield Anniversary Expo!

Our fabulous Anniversary Expo is back! We would like EVERY Littlefield Resident to participate this year. After all, YOU ARE THE GRID. You are one of the wonderful people who is the life blood of our community. This party is for you!

Littlefield Grid

2nd Anniversary Expo

April 4-30

It is easy to join in the celebration. We have a variety of spaces this year, from very small to very large. There are places for all different kinds of contributions. Building is encouraged but is not required. You can do something as simple as a photo… or build an epic installation.

The Expo opens April 4 so you’ve still got two weeks. Come on over to Littlefield Anniversary region, claim your space and pitch in!

HOW BIG ARE THE EXHIBIT SPACES?

This year we are offering four options:

Poster 2×2 – holds 1 photo and an optional short text message. Super easy!

Booth 12×12 – perfect for a small creation, a photo wall or a few small objects. Quick!

Field 60×60 – enough space for your epic build. Big!

Gallery – small building to display a collection of images and/or a few small objects. Thought provoking!

HOW DO I CLAIM A SPACE?

If you are a Littlefield resident you can simply help yourself. Come to the region Littlefield Anniversary. Maps are at the landing zone. Find an empty space that you like, rez a prim on it, notify an admin and start building. First come first served.

If you don’t see any empty spaces in the size you want, ask an admin and we’ll make one for you.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR COMPLETING EXHIBITS?

The Anniversary Expo is April 4-30. Please complete your exhibit by Friday, April 3.

WHAT DO I PUT IN MY EXHIBIT?

Be creative – make anything you want. Say something about yourself, about our community, or tell a story on a theme that is meaningful to you. Share something cool that you made. Offer good wishes to the grid, tell about good times you had this year, or share your dreams about the future.

BUILDING NOT REQUIRED. You can create an exhibit using photos, or even text. We can help you with a display for photos, and even a way to display plain text. Or, if you have an idea, but don’t know how to make it, team up with a builder buddy and collaborate.

I NEED SOME IDEAS!

Here are a few to get you started.

TELL A STORY. Use photos and objects to tell the story of your life in the virtual world. Maybe it’s about your relationship, or your adventures (or misadventures), or your RP community. We ALL have a story. We want to know yours!

SHOW YOUR INTERESTS. What are you passionate about? Gardening? Decorating? Fashion? Music? Use your exhibit to share your passions.

PROVIDE SOMETHING FUN FOR PEOPLE TO DO. It doesn’t have to be “about” anything. Some of the most popular expo exhibits are just fun activities that give people a smile.

PLAY WITH AN IDEA. Choose a theme, and create a “collage” that expresses your thoughts about it. Some possible themes: Friendship. Dreams. Community. What do these things mean to you?

PROMOTE YOUR CAUSE. If you represent an organization, a lifestyle, an RP community or something similar, create a small poster or exhibit to let people know why it’s so great.

GIVE A GIFT. If you have a store in Littlefield, make a new exclusive item to share only at the Expo.

Just a reminder: We will be sharing photos and video of the Expo all over the internet. As always, please make sure that everything in your exhibit is an original creation. If you obtained some of your content from another grid, please be absolutely certain that you know exactly who the original artist was, and that the original artist gave permission for the item to be shared.

Remember, Littlefield is about people – about YOU. We want to celebrate the best of what Littlefield is, and what it can be. We want to celebrate you.

If you have any questions, please ask Camryn Darkstone, Toy McBride, Dirk Mathers or Walter Balazic.

Thank you for a wonderful second year, and here’s to an even more spectacular third year!

Joaquin Gustav Heats Up Littlefield Grid

On December 18, Littlefield Grid welcomed the amazing Argentine guitarist Joaquin Gustav for a live performance at the Music Pier on Coney Island South. It was a fabulous evening of music and dancing with a Latin flavor to warm up those cold December nights.

Joaquin Gustav Live at the Music Pier Littlefield Grid

Joaquin dazzled us all with his virtuoso guitar, his warm personality and entertaining mix of musical styles. One of the most popular performers in the virtual world, Joaquin is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, the birthplace of the Tango. We got to try out our new couples dance system with our fancy footwork.

Of course in Argentina the December nights aren’t cold at all. It’s summer there, and Joaquin brought the heat to the Music Pier with a musical variety of jazz and pop songs in addition to Tango and Bossa nova. My personal favorite was Joaquin’s rendition of “Fragilidad” or “Fragile”, by Sting.

This was the first event at the brand new Music Pier, which was decorated for Christmas with sparkly stars, Christmas trees and warm glowing lights. Joaquin’s guitar spun out several Christmas tunes in keeping with the season, but with his own sizzling Latin style.

In keeping with the New Jersey Shore theme of the region, the Music Pier was built in tribute to the Ocean City Music Pier in Ocean City, New Jersey. The iconic auditorium has been a favorite for concerts at the beach since 1928. This was the grand opening of the virtual version. We are looking forward to many more romantic evenings there!

We are planning to have Joaquin come back for regular performances starting in 2014. Be sure to watch the Littlefield Grid Event Calendar for the next Tango Time!

Our website is in the process of being changed by Ashton…he has written a custom code for us
We will be upgrading some of the infrastructure around Feb/March. (grid server, hoping to make it twice as powerful as it is now) we are at about 15% capacity now… all the funds we receive from renters go back into the grid. In Nov we gained around 83 new users.

We have been approved for Bitcoin. Walter will investigate Bitcoin for use here, but not for commerce, just for paying rental tier, as some members cannot use PayPal.

We have moved everyone to Release 2 of version 8.0, newer releases have some bugs at the moment.

Avatar physics may be coming to Opensim. It seems to be a simple fix, and Cinder has supplied Justin with the code. Not sure if he will implement it yet.

Breedable pets – Omen & Chris had a successful test for them…they are still working on this project. The first LF breedable will be available soon…
