Fashions on Littlefield Grid

Littlefield Grid has come along way with content since we began long ago in OSgrid.  We had one wonderful clothes maker, Ada Wong, poor Ada was so over worked back in the day, without her we had no shoes or boots etc she worked very hard to make us girls all look great.  But since we started our own grid nearly 2 years ago we’ve come along way, many wonderful content creators have joined our family and we have many sims with shopping now.  I believe, I may be a tad biased, we have some of the best fashion in opensim.

So my post today is to show you all what is available on our grid.  We have a wonderful range of clothing, including mesh clothing skins, makeup.  This is just an example of what is available, there is so much more to see, so come on over and explore.

Thank you to all our wonderful creators.

Littlefield Adventure Club Tour of Arles

Our last Adventure Club tour for the year in November was to Mudpuddle Cleanslate’s region Arles.

Group shot

Mudpuddle is the “creator of Van Gogh’s Virtual Arles, a beautifully landscaped sim showing 17 of the views that he painted during his time here. At each viewpoint I have placed an easel showing Van Gogh’s finished painting.”

When we first started to wander around the sim my first reaction was “Wow” what an amazing build, I can tell that much love & thought have been put into this region from Mudpuddle, it is truly wonderful.  The thing that struck me the most were the colours, I loved the vibrant colours you see as you explore the region.  We were also very fortunate enough to have the creator Mudpuddle be our tour guide. He is a very warm and informative host.

Here are some of my favourite snapshots.

I asked Mudpuddle to put into his own words a little about his creations.

“I first became interested in Van Gogh about 20 years ago now. I was using Acorn computers at that time and had my own monthly double page spread in an Acorn computer magazine. The article was called Brush Strokes and covered all aspects of computer art. I was frequently given new art software to either try out or review. A nifty bit of 3D software found its way to me called Illusionist which let the user set up a 3D scene, light it and then render it as a still image.

For me The Bedroom by Van Gogh was perhaps instantly recognizable to most people and so I thought about creating this painting using the new software but instead of the normal view, show the end of the bedroom that Van Gogh painted it from.

In early 2000, Adobe were working on their own 3D product called ‘Atmosphere’ and for its time, was an amazing piece of software. I tested it for a while until its release. This software allowed the user to create 3D worlds but this time you could actually move around within the virtual space. Also, it was uploaded to the user’s own server and you could meet other people, go to their creations and vice versa. Needless to say, I was hooked and this time built the bedroom scene again but also the Yellow House in Arles. Sadly after only one year, it was taken from the shelves simply because it couldn’t compete with that other online community known as Second Life.

Therefore, I joined Second Life, bought a small parcel of land and built the same there, just the bedroom inside the yellow House, oh and the grocery store next door of course. I was offered the use of one third of a full sim which I jumped at, built the same again there but also more buildings behind the Yellow House…and right at the bottom of the street, I built the Cafe Terrace and Night Cafe. Sadly the owner couldn’t afford the tier any longer and so I bought my own Homestead. Now I was really buzzing, more and more paintings came to life and I landscaped the sim to resemble what I referred to as a ‘Mini’ Arles. Again I had to let this go after two years for reasons of malicious stalking.

One year later some people who had been to my homestead and loved what I had done there, invited me to build Arles on their full sim, pretty much all of the space at ground level. There were promises that it would be a permanent fixture but this wasn’t the case and so yet again I had to take it all down again.

Chelsea suggested I move to OpenSim and join the Littlefield community where you get 30,000 mouth watering prims to play with. This I did and after about 8 months, the new Arles has been reborn and this time around, it’s the best ever….I’ve reworked some of the old buildings, remade solid doors as opposed to alpha ones, even made completely new scenes, including a few surprises that you can teleport to.

I’ve even made a machinima movie showing the new Arles with a specially written soundtrack by Keoki Trask, a ‘new age’, ‘progressive’ composer. The movie as is the music, is called ‘Le Royaume du Arles’, ‘The KIngdom of Arles’ and already has some great comments said about it on my youtube channel. The movie runs in HD at full 1080p.

After so many tries at rebuilding, taking it down time and time again, I simply cannot face having to go through that again. It’s very tiring and disheartening and now this is the 5th and final time that I will build this….hopefully it will stay in Littlefield, something that the community here can be proud to own.”
Mud, 18th November 2014

Thank you Mudpuddle for sharing your creations with Littlefield Grid.

This build was mainly constructed by Toy McBride with a lot of help along the way from Dirk Mathers, Aaack Aardvark, Ada Wong, Camryn Darkstone & Walter Balazic…a great build is done with friends & passion.

This sim evolves quite a lot, as I think of things I build them, thankfully in Open Sim prims are no limit and there is more freedom to construct wonderful builds.  Please enjoy my homage to Doctor Who which of course is copywrited by BBC my build is purely for educational purposes.

An Invitation to our First Anniversary Bash

Littlefield will be one year old in April! It has been a wonderful first year, and we would like to invite you to celebrate it with us!

All Littlefield residents are invited to participate in our Anniversary Expo which will be held from April 6-12. This is a chance for all Littlefield residents to get to know each other, and celebrate this wonderful community that has grown to 1,000 members in just one year. We would like you to create an exhibit to share something about yourself, your creations and/or your interests.

Any resident may contribute an exhibit for the event. Free space for exhibits is available, with parcels up to 80×80. Spaces are available now. Exhibits should be completed before April 6.

Exhibits can be just about anything. We hope everyone will contribute! Here are some possible ideas:

  • BUILDING NOT REQUIRED. You can create an exhibit using photos, images, or even text. I’ll be happy to provide a small open-air structure if you need a way to display photos or small objects and you’re not a builder. You can even just write notecards to put into something that can be clicked on to give information to a visitor.
  • COLLABORATE WITH A FRIEND. If you have an idea, but you think you aren’t a builder, why not collaborate with another resident who does build?
  • TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR INTERESTS. What are you passionate about? Gardening? Fashion? Music? Use the exhibit to share your passions with us. Show and tell!
  • DISPLAY YOUR CREATIONS. Have you created interesting builds, or clothes? Are you good at landscaping, or interior decoration? Are you an artist, or musician? Make an exhibit with your creations, and let us celebrate your creativity with you.
  • TELL A STORY ABOUT YOU. Use photos and objects to tell the story of your life in the virtual world. Maybe it’s about your relationship, or your adventures (or misadventures), or your RP community. We ALL have a story. We want to know yours!
  • PROVIDE SOMETHING FUN FOR PEOPLE TO DO. It doesn’t have to be “about” anything. Some of the most popular expo exhibits are just fun activities that give people a smile.
  • PLAY WITH AN IDEA. Think about a broad theme, then create a “collage” that expresses your thoughts about it. Some possible themes: Friendship. Hope. Community. Renewal. What do these things mean to you?

Be creative! Let your imagination go! Remember, Littlefield is about people – about YOU. We want to celebrate the best of what Littlefield is, and what it can be. We want to celebrate you.

Here are more details:

LFG Anniversary Week is April 6-13. Please complete your exhibit before April 6 so that we can photograph it before the opening.

Parcels are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To claim a parcel, select any empty parcel, rez a prim on it, and notify one of the Littlefield Admins. We will then put the parcel in your name and you can start building.

Parcels are 80m x 80m with 2929 prims allowed. But you don’t have to use the whole thing. Don’t feel obligated to create a huge build just because there is all that land. It’s okay to create something small. If there is land left over, we’ll help you landscape it.

Parcels are located on the four regions: LFG Anniversary E, LFG Anniversary S, LFG Anniversary W, and LFG Anniversary N. You may claim any vacant parcel on any of these four regions.

Terraforming is allowed on your parcel +/- 3m only.

Please make sure that everything you place on your parcel is either your own original creation, or legally licensed for this grid. We will be taking photos and publicizing them all over the internet so it’s important to protect our grid by using only legal content. All exhibits will be inspected and unauthorized content will be removed.

Please be considerate of other exhibitors. Please don’t build things that would detract from or interfere with other residents’ builds.

If you have any questions, please ask Camryn Darkstone, Toy McBride, Dirk Mathers, Ashton Nobilis or Walter Balazic.

Let’s get all 24 exhibit spaces filled, and make this anniversary the best party yet!

Littlefield Grid Monthly Meeting – 7 Feb 2014

Littlefield Grid Meeting February 7th 2014

Grid Maintenance:

Sunday 9th February – the grid was down for the day, with the grid server update. SQL server has it’s own server now for regions. This will increase speed & capacity. We had purchased a new server that was waiting to be used, we try and keep a year ahead of things to keep the grid running smoothly.

Appearance Issues:

OS has decided to fix a glitch, which is causing some issues right now. They are not testing to make sure things are right which is why we have some hiccups at the moment.

We now have avatar physics at the moment ie: bouncy boobs. If you want bouncy boobs Walter has the box to make this happen.

Sometimes with this release you may see somethings slightly off on your avatar, but without this release a lot more people would have been cloudy.

We tested bullet physics, but are now back on ODE it worked fine in the front end but on the back end it caused issues. Bullet has the fix for walking up stairs without a ramp on them, but we had a bug so had to remove it because it was a large memory hole and was crashing sims. So now we are back on ODE.

Firestorm News:

Cinder Biscuits is no longer in the virtual world community. this is not a good thing she was behind the FS viewer code for OS so this is a sad thing for us. so no upgrades etc at the moment for OS Firestorm. We still have a connection with Jessica Lyon and she will try and do some upgrades for OS as she can. We will support Firestorm still plus you can use Cool Viewer & Singularity, but Darkstorm is not to be used on our grid, copybot viewers are not to be used if you are seen using it you will be automatically banned. Ash has implemented a wonderful feature for our grid to prevent people removing content from our grid, they cannot hypergrid away with out content now. The items will disappear when they HG back to their grid and they will most likely crash on return. Well done Ash 🙂

We are happy to announce we are opening a new public region – Sweethearts

It is a romantic region for dancing and meeting up. It is formal sim, suits & tuxes for men and gowns for women. There are some available in the main building for you to take. We have small gazebos placed around the sim, each has a cuddle bench and dance machine. They are placed so that no one in other gazebos cannot hear you, for some privacy. It is not a sex sim just place to meet and dance etc. There is a stream playing romantic music on the region. There also is a TP button at Littlefield main mall to access the region.

Littlefield Funtime Roller Skate Center located in Littlefield East, (new region still under construction)

One Sunday a month have a skating party there

8pm to midnight PST/grid time

Date & time to be announced soon

Social Media Board:

This has links to Littlefield’s Facebook, Twitter & G+ pages, It will take you to each page by touch of one of the buttons.

if you would like one for your regions please send IM to Toy McBride.

Twitter: @LittlefieldGrid we announce our outages etc there, this will appear on the log in screen.

Shoutcast Tuner:

Walter Balazic now has a Shoutcast tuner that is auto updating, if the shoutcast stream is dead it will make it go away, it also has a searchable menu. It is full perm so you can take the scripts and use in an object of your choice. Contact Walter for a copy.

Inworld profiles:

We encourage you to complete your profiles, this is a good way to show new people coming here that we are an active grid of people. If you can please place a profile pic and a little about yourself, or add some picks. We have a photo booth at LIttlefield if you need a place to take a picture.

Trouble Tickets:

Please remember to log a ticket if you are having any issues on your regions or inworld, try not to wait for an Admin to come online, because we Admins have access to ticket emails even if we are not online. Here is the link to log a ticket. Link to Ticket Page By doing this it helps up track all issues, and see if there are any common issues that are arising on the grid.

Other News:

Open Collar Scripts: They are currently being worked on, we are aware there are some issues with collars ar the moment. Dirk is working hard to rectify the problems.

Walter has rezzed up a copy of Atropia – copy of the Moses Project, Military regions. We have combat meters now, but we need to set them up, more info to come on this. Please feel free to visit this region.

We have now a full list of PUBLIC regions, if you wish to add your region to this list, please let Toy McBride know by note card with a landmark to your region and she will add it to the list.

Please remember to take a look at our calender from time to time, here we list all our upcoming events. Link to calender

Adventure Club next outing is March 8th – Place to be advised, Dirk will be running this adventure as Toy will be offline that day.

Next Grid Meeting Friday March 7th 1.30pm PST/Grid time

The meeting is for all of our community to attend. Here you can express your thoughts, concerns or ideas.

Adventure Club Tour of Phoenix Rising

Hello again from the Adventure Club, we did our monthly tour of Phoenix Rising – Garden on the Rising Phoenix.

We had a brilliant turn out today of 12 adventurers, we met up, as usual, at the club tree house on Arcadia North.

The Adventure Club House Arcadia North Jan 4 2014

Once we were all dressed and ready to go, we began our tour, we boarded the adventure club plane and parachuted down to the island, where we were met by Enigma Namaste, he would be our tour guide today.

Toy McBride & Enigma Namaste Rising Phoenix Region Jan 4 2014

If you have not met Enigma please do, he is a very kind and thoughtful person, who has taken time and such care to create this wonderful island for all to share.

Throughout the island there are small arches to touch, and when you touch it, it speaks to you in local chat, this is what the initial greeting was.

Welcome to the Garden of the Rising Phoenix

At the entrance to the parks feel free to strike the gong to announce your arrival.

Throughout The Garden you will find the Self Tour Toriis or arches. When clicked each will read the tour details for that area in Local Chat. Click or touch it again to stop the reading of that tour card.

Ever wonder about the arches in Japanese architecture? A torii (鳥居?, literally~”bird abode,” is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, The torii symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred

Each Mediation Area has a single focal point to guide the meditation. Focal Points may include visual, audio, motion or wisdom quotes. Many focal points of the Garden are designed to be enjoyed in mouse view or alt-click to cam in close in order to help keep distractions to a minimum.

The music of the Garden can be changed at any time by “touching” the gramophone located at the Beach Cuddle Gazebo in the southwest area of the Garden. Visitors can change the station from anywhere in the garden proper.

The Garden of the Rising Phoenix is built as a living, evolving place to relax, meditate or bring your friends to chat, explore or even to dance

It is my hope that you will enjoy The Garden of the Rising Phoenix often and bring your friends to explore.

Namaste _/\_
Enigma Namaste

As you wander about the island I advise you to enable music as it adds to the ambiance of the island, it was very much like the music you hear when getting a massage, I felt like I was being massaged throughout the whole tour.  The Island to me anyway is full of peace and relaxing energy, a fabulous place to go if you want to be alone with your thoughts or to meditate.

Unfortunately with so many people on the tour this time, I am unable to give a full exacting report of the island, I do know that I enjoyed it, as did my fellow club members, I will definitely return one day and wander around the island alone so I can fully absorbed all that is there.  So I will end this with Enigma’s own words about his garden.

Namaste _/\_ Welcome to the Garden of the Rising Phoenix.
It is my hope that you will find the Mediation Gardens to be a peaceful place to relax and bring your friends.

Below are pictures from our wonderful tour….thank you very much Enigma for your wonderful tour, you were a great host.
