An Invitation to our First Anniversary Bash

Littlefield will be one year old in April! It has been a wonderful first year, and we would like to invite you to celebrate it with us!

All Littlefield residents are invited to participate in our Anniversary Expo which will be held from April 6-12. This is a chance for all Littlefield residents to get to know each other, and celebrate this wonderful community that has grown to 1,000 members in just one year. We would like you to create an exhibit to share something about yourself, your creations and/or your interests.

Any resident may contribute an exhibit for the event. Free space for exhibits is available, with parcels up to 80×80. Spaces are available now. Exhibits should be completed before April 6.

Exhibits can be just about anything. We hope everyone will contribute! Here are some possible ideas:

  • BUILDING NOT REQUIRED. You can create an exhibit using photos, images, or even text. I’ll be happy to provide a small open-air structure if you need a way to display photos or small objects and you’re not a builder. You can even just write notecards to put into something that can be clicked on to give information to a visitor.
  • COLLABORATE WITH A FRIEND. If you have an idea, but you think you aren’t a builder, why not collaborate with another resident who does build?
  • TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR INTERESTS. What are you passionate about? Gardening? Fashion? Music? Use the exhibit to share your passions with us. Show and tell!
  • DISPLAY YOUR CREATIONS. Have you created interesting builds, or clothes? Are you good at landscaping, or interior decoration? Are you an artist, or musician? Make an exhibit with your creations, and let us celebrate your creativity with you.
  • TELL A STORY ABOUT YOU. Use photos and objects to tell the story of your life in the virtual world. Maybe it’s about your relationship, or your adventures (or misadventures), or your RP community. We ALL have a story. We want to know yours!
  • PROVIDE SOMETHING FUN FOR PEOPLE TO DO. It doesn’t have to be “about” anything. Some of the most popular expo exhibits are just fun activities that give people a smile.
  • PLAY WITH AN IDEA. Think about a broad theme, then create a “collage” that expresses your thoughts about it. Some possible themes: Friendship. Hope. Community. Renewal. What do these things mean to you?

Be creative! Let your imagination go! Remember, Littlefield is about people – about YOU. We want to celebrate the best of what Littlefield is, and what it can be. We want to celebrate you.

Here are more details:

LFG Anniversary Week is April 6-13. Please complete your exhibit before April 6 so that we can photograph it before the opening.

Parcels are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To claim a parcel, select any empty parcel, rez a prim on it, and notify one of the Littlefield Admins. We will then put the parcel in your name and you can start building.

Parcels are 80m x 80m with 2929 prims allowed. But you don’t have to use the whole thing. Don’t feel obligated to create a huge build just because there is all that land. It’s okay to create something small. If there is land left over, we’ll help you landscape it.

Parcels are located on the four regions: LFG Anniversary E, LFG Anniversary S, LFG Anniversary W, and LFG Anniversary N. You may claim any vacant parcel on any of these four regions.

Terraforming is allowed on your parcel +/- 3m only.

Please make sure that everything you place on your parcel is either your own original creation, or legally licensed for this grid. We will be taking photos and publicizing them all over the internet so it’s important to protect our grid by using only legal content. All exhibits will be inspected and unauthorized content will be removed.

Please be considerate of other exhibitors. Please don’t build things that would detract from or interfere with other residents’ builds.

If you have any questions, please ask Camryn Darkstone, Toy McBride, Dirk Mathers, Ashton Nobilis or Walter Balazic.

Let’s get all 24 exhibit spaces filled, and make this anniversary the best party yet!

Adventure Club Tour of Phoenix Rising

Hello again from the Adventure Club, we did our monthly tour of Phoenix Rising – Garden on the Rising Phoenix.

We had a brilliant turn out today of 12 adventurers, we met up, as usual, at the club tree house on Arcadia North.

The Adventure Club House Arcadia North Jan 4 2014

Once we were all dressed and ready to go, we began our tour, we boarded the adventure club plane and parachuted down to the island, where we were met by Enigma Namaste, he would be our tour guide today.

If you have not met Enigma please do, he is a very kind and thoughtful person, who has taken time and such care to create this wonderful island for all to share.

Throughout the island there are small arches to touch, and when you touch it, it speaks to you in local chat, this is what the initial greeting was.

Welcome to the Garden of the Rising Phoenix

At the entrance to the parks feel free to strike the gong to announce your arrival.

Throughout The Garden you will find the Self Tour Toriis or arches. When clicked each will read the tour details for that area in Local Chat. Click or touch it again to stop the reading of that tour card.

Ever wonder about the arches in Japanese architecture? A torii (鳥居?, literally~”bird abode,” is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, The torii symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred

Each Mediation Area has a single focal point to guide the meditation. Focal Points may include visual, audio, motion or wisdom quotes. Many focal points of the Garden are designed to be enjoyed in mouse view or alt-click to cam in close in order to help keep distractions to a minimum.

The music of the Garden can be changed at any time by “touching” the gramophone located at the Beach Cuddle Gazebo in the southwest area of the Garden. Visitors can change the station from anywhere in the garden proper.

The Garden of the Rising Phoenix is built as a living, evolving place to relax, meditate or bring your friends to chat, explore or even to dance

It is my hope that you will enjoy The Garden of the Rising Phoenix often and bring your friends to explore.

Namaste _/\_
Enigma Namaste

As you wander about the island I advise you to enable music as it adds to the ambiance of the island, it was very much like the music you hear when getting a massage, I felt like I was being massaged throughout the whole tour.  The Island to me anyway is full of peace and relaxing energy, a fabulous place to go if you want to be alone with your thoughts or to meditate.

Unfortunately with so many people on the tour this time, I am unable to give a full exacting report of the island, I do know that I enjoyed it, as did my fellow club members, I will definitely return one day and wander around the island alone so I can fully absorbed all that is there.  So I will end this with Enigma’s own words about his garden.

Namaste _/\_ Welcome to the Garden of the Rising Phoenix.
It is my hope that you will find the Mediation Gardens to be a peaceful place to relax and bring your friends.

Below are pictures from our wonderful tour….thank you very much Enigma for your wonderful tour, you were a great host.

Joaquin Gustav Heats Up Littlefield Grid

On December 18, Littlefield Grid welcomed the amazing Argentine guitarist Joaquin Gustav for a live performance at the Music Pier on Coney Island South. It was a fabulous evening of music and dancing with a Latin flavor to warm up those cold December nights.

Joaquin Gustav Live at the Music Pier Littlefield Grid

Joaquin dazzled us all with his virtuoso guitar, his warm personality and entertaining mix of musical styles. One of the most popular performers in the virtual world, Joaquin is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, the birthplace of the Tango. We got to try out our new couples dance system with our fancy footwork.

Joaquin Gustav Live at the Music Pier Littlefield Grid

Of course in Argentina the December nights aren’t cold at all. It’s summer there, and Joaquin brought the heat to the Music Pier with a musical variety of jazz and pop songs in addition to Tango and Bossa nova. My personal favorite was Joaquin’s rendition of “Fragilidad” or “Fragile”, by Sting.

This was the first event at the brand new Music Pier, which was decorated for Christmas with sparkly stars, Christmas trees and warm glowing lights. Joaquin’s guitar spun out several Christmas tunes in keeping with the season, but with his own sizzling Latin style.

In keeping with the New Jersey Shore theme of the region, the Music Pier was built in tribute to the Ocean City Music Pier in Ocean City, New Jersey. The iconic auditorium has been a favorite for concerts at the beach since 1928. This was the grand opening of the virtual version. We are looking forward to many more romantic evenings there!

We are planning to have Joaquin come back for regular performances starting in 2014. Be sure to watch the Littlefield Grid Event Calendar for the next Tango Time!

Adventure Clubs 1st tour…Christmas Region

Today we had our 1st tour as the newly created Adventure Club.  We met up at our shiny new club house..yes we have a club house 🙂  Once we arrived at the club house we were kitted out in our new Adventure Club outfits, thanks to Aaack, Ada & Amy hmmm 3 A’s well that’s a whole other story LOL.

Yes smoking, drinking and laughter is allowed at the club house!!!  Everyone was looking fabulous in our club uniform…what was lacking was our booze hip flask..hopefully that will come soon, one needs booze when exploring new places.  Our explorers today were Dirk, Aaack, Ada, Amy, lilith, Bae & Camryn.

Once we were all kitted out in our new gear we were ready to head of on our expedition to a place unknowm…The Christmas Region, what wild wonderful things would we find there?  What new trinkets would we bring back, and would we survive this expedition?

We boarded our plane for our destination, once over the island we parachuted to the ground and landed in this wondrous place which appeared to be a snow swept island.  Once we shed our parachute gear, we planted our flag to let those after us know that the Adventure Club had been there, we then gathered for our traditional group photo.

We set out along pathway that led us to a strange creation, dressed in red with a white beard, what could this creature be?  We approached with caution, eyeing up the animal that appear to be guarding this creature, he seemed harmless enough, he beckoned us closes, we did so and we sat around him quietly (hmm ok maybe no so quiet) I managed to snap a picture before we had to quickly scurry away as he appeared to be getting angry with people sitting all over him.

We ran for our lives towards a clearing with bright lights, as we ran we the smell of food and wine wafted about the place, we came to a stop and there it was before our very eyes and wonderful setting, with tables, chairs and food, before I could say anything Ada pushed me out of the way and ran to the table to feast upon the delightful pickings.  As we watched Ada gorge upon the food we wandered about the place, some of the team danced atop the tables, some sipped wine from the crystal glasses…while others..not mentioning any names..Aaaack….sat upon the food!!!

We filled our pockets with what we could from the table, Ada had now finished gorging herself, we spied a clearing in the distance we made our through the thick snow, we we discovered a ice lake with a huge tree decorated with lights and such.  Aaack climbed his way up this wondrous tree making it to the very top and sat upon it like an angel with wings spread wide!!!

We walked upon the ice treading carefully so as to not crack it, we spied upon the hill a castle, what treasures did this castle hold?  We made our way into the castle and discovered a family of little people, elves, that appeared to be creating items of some festive nature.

We left the happy little creatures to continue their work and made our way through the snow covered forest, we then came upon a vehicle with animals tethered to it we climb on the vehicle then quite by sudden we were lifted into the air flying high above the island, from here we could see just how beautiful it was, a place full of snow, colour and wonder.

After our ride was over, we landed safely on the ground again, from the sky i spied a area that look cosy and inviting, I gathered the team and we headed to this spot, here we found a warm fire, comfy chairs and hot cocoa, so there we sat and talked of our adventure.

relaxing at the end

Diving Tour of Atlantis Region

Exploring grids can be fun, but what is even more fun is to explore in a group and that is exactly what we did Saturday 9th November on the new Atlantis region.  We all met up at Atlantis landing point where everyone was kitted out with their diving equipment..thanks to Ada Wong :). I created Atlantis diving region a couple of months ago, I had the best time creating this region, and thankfully I had found some great resources using Arcadia Asylum(Aley Arai) creations.  The region is mainly water apart from a small island where you can pick up diving equipment and some of the items from Arcadia.

In the picture below: Bubbles, Dirk, Camryn, Amy, Aaack & Toy(me)

We set out on our tour of the underwater with great gusto, I have to say it was the best time, my belly at the end hurt from laughing so much.  We ended the tour sitting on the Kraken Monstor and their we took inspiration from Pathfinder Lester and his Adventure Group, so we decided to create a mini LFgrid group where we thought what a fabulous way to get together as a group once a month and tour regions on our own grid.  Thank you Pathfinder for the inspiration to do this 🙂

So we hope to do this the first Saturday (PST/grid time) of each month. The next adventure will be touring our Christmas region and exploring all the wonders there

So if you are in world please feel free to join us.  You can join our grid at www.lfgrid.com or hypergrid over fgrid.com:8002:Littlefield Welcome

OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013 – Part 1

Toy McBride’s reflections on the OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013

First day of the conference – Saturday September 7th 2013

With much excitement we gathered in keynote areas on OpenSimulator Community Conference grid, where we listened and watched the very first OS Community Conference.  I wasn’t sure what to expect at this event, or how it would play out, but I have to say I enjoyed it very much.  It was very interesting to see so many people from around the various virtual worlds gather in one place.

It commenced with conference open & welcome with a panel of speakers, then moving on to Keynote Panel, The Future of OpenSimulator.  Sadly after this part of the program I had to log out for the night, Australian time zone can be harsh in the virtual world.

What I can report on though is Littlefield Grid’s OSCC13 dance party held at Speakeasy region on LFgrid.  We had a fabulous turnout from the grid’s community plus some visitors from other grids, we were also lucky to have some of the keynote speakers attend the dance.  Thank you all for attending our celebration for OSCC13, we hope you enjoy your visit to our grid.

Below I have uploaded some pictures I took at the conference and from our dance party.
